Finally! - Stephanie

Goodness! So the Kingdom of Bahrain DOES have wifi in the airport, but it refreshes at a glacial pace, so we are hanging out in the Irish pub, using their Internet... waaaaay faster!
Good news is I did manage to get some sleep on our long flight, BUT I didn't realize how much it would mess with my clock... As we were landing in Kuwait I took pictures of the gorgeous sunrise (which, considering they had JUST served us breakfast, and they said it was 6:15 - no AM or PM, and it had been dark in the plane until then, seemed like a reasonable assumption).... just kidding! It was the sunset... sooo now it is sometime between midnight and one am local time, and I am WIDE awake...

                                                              Sun SET over Kuwait

I am almost done with the Jack Reacher book from the nice random lady at PHX, I've watched a couple a movies, and now we are just wasting time, I might stop by the local Duty Free (Woohooo) and buy something small, like perfume or something.

It was interesting touching down in Kuwait, it was a strange mix of people who are from the Middle East and American soldiers, because apparently it's a staging area for them going into Iraq... And beyond one or two American guys (defense contractors or troops, I couldn't tell with some of them), I was the tallest person in the holding area of the Kuwait City airport. By A LOT. The women are tiny. About Meredith's size (No offense :) )... We attracted a lot of attention. One little girl was chatting up Dr. Tonya, I think she liked her blond hair.
One of the airport employees (from Sri Lanka, nice guy) loved the shirt dresses Holly and I are wearing. I would take a picture, but I've been flying for too many hours to even pull off "socially acceptable",much less "pretty enough for a picture"
Other than that, we were an hour late leaving Kuwait city, which still wouldn't have hurt us any because we have such a long layover in Bahrain, but they just delayed our flight to Dhaka by an hour as well, apparently there is "weather" in Bangladesh :-/

And heeey lookie what Holly and I found in Bahrain.... EXCITEMENT!! And they took USD, so I didn't have to worry about changing money to get something warm to drink :-D
Oy, we still have about an hour before we start worrying about making our way down to the gate, but we are enjoying the football (not football) on the tv and chatting, so I'll end this. Be back in Bangladesh!!
