For those who don't know, myself and three other girls (yep, all blondes) are traveling to Bangladesh together for a Group Study Exchange (GSE) for one month. The trip is a vocational, cultural learning experience generously sponsored by District 5510, Rotary Club. I'll be representing Tempe Rio Salado and Camelback Crossroads Rotary Club and I couldn't be more grateful for them. The first time I met them was at a 'Military Appreciation Breakfast' they sponsored and I immediately felt like family. Not only are they extremely talented individuals, but they have the best sense of humor! Yep, I was honored with my first whoopee cushion from them. I love their traditions! :) I may have to tie that thing in a knot and use it as a pillow on the flight as long as it doesn't accidently deflate...whoops! haha I'll blame it on Stephanie. :)
Larry and I also got our picture taken with Chuck Norris! I'll post the famous (or infamous) photo. ;) Pat is putting together an amazing video for me to show my host families (I'll post the YouTube link once it's finished). Thank you, Pat!! Really wish I had your talents.
I'm really excited to see my Rotary Family this Thursday at their meeting before I leave. I am so grateful for all of you and can't wait to share my adventures with you!
I'm really hoping to say bye to everyone at work before I leave. :( My supervisor, LtCol Lovell, has been one of my biggest supporters and I thank her so much for this opportunity!
Our flight leaves early Saturday (12 Jan) morning, so I'm really excited to spend Friday night with my mom and friends at the K2 'High Ground' Event. :) I'm a lucky girl! I want to thank everyone for their love and support! My New Years resolution is to keep my blog updated so you all can embark on this journey with me!
Lots more to come...
Holly
