Chittagong- Day 3 - Stephanie

Our third day in Chittagong started with a visit to the University sponsored my my host Sufi Mizanur, the University of Information Technology and Science. They gave a short presentation, and we told the students present a little about where we are from, then we took questions. They presented us with flowers and fed us (again!).
Everyone has been feeding us, which is very kind, and the food has been delicious, but the sheer volume of food is astounding! We have been learning to pace ourselves, but we feel bad we aren't able to eat too much at any one place. I think Bangladeshi people assume we don't eat, since they never see us finish a meal!

After the University, we visited the Ma O Shishu Hospital, which is for women and children specifically. Much of their equipment was donated through the generosity of Rotary, and in turn they offer very low cost or free health care to those who need it most.

After touring the hospital, we were treated to lunch and another garment factory tour... but this one was a little different....

And then we visited the War Cemetery, and normally I would never take photos in a cemetery, but the gentlemen who accompanied us assured me that it was alright.

And then we went over to Foy's lake for some fun! Riding on the pirate ship and the Ferris wheel, eating some ice cream, and generally enjoying the mild weather!

The gentlemen who escorted us to Foy's Lake!

Our last program for the night was a huge gala event thrown by my host, Sufi Mizanur, in our honor. His daughter-in-law Anika was in charge of the decorations, and she did a FABULOUS job!!!
BTW Dr. Tonya's new name is Tiny ;)

Sufi Mizanur and his adorable grandson
Holly with her host Sizzil and Sizzil's son

Absolutely gorgeous!
And this party went well after midnight, which made it a little difficult to get going to Cox's Bazar the next morning!
