Whew! Things have been incredibly busy since our return to Dhaka!
We got back into town on the afternoon of the 7th, and we had only a few hours to go home and shower and get ready for the District Governor's Dinner, and we were able to wear our red Saris from Khulna again!
Yeah yeah, I know, self-portraits are ridiculous, but I wanted a picture of how good everything looked before I melted in the heat! (and yeah, my room here in Dhaka looks like a bomb went off, I was trying to pack!!)
Dr. Tonya with Mr. Alam (AKA Grandpa)- We love this guy, good man and an excellent speaker! Dr. Tonya stays at his house in Dhaka, with Fawzia - our coordinator.
Messing with the different artistic settings on my camera
We loooooooove Fawzia, she has taken SUCH good care of us here in Bangladesh!
Holly and I with Sufi Mizanur, my host father from Chittagong.
We can't wait for Fawzia to bring her GSE team to visit us in Arizona :)
The next morning Holly and I had an early start.since our host fathers are in charge of the District Conference and it was just easier to ride in with them, so we go to see the hall before all of the craziness!
About 2000-3000 people were slated to come to the conference, so it was nice to have a quick breather beforehand...
And then the show!
Holly's host father on the big screen :)
Laughing with our friends from Chittagong :-P
Working on our presentation from the Gallery, watching my Chittagong host father give a speech!
Holly's host father and mine never stopped working, even when they were trying to eat! I tried catching a brief moment when they were both on the walkie-talkie with food in their mouths, but I was too slow on the draw heehee
And then they had a very good band...
That turned the Conference into a dance party!
Holly's family and mine had an invitation to attend a wedding that night, so while Dr. Tonya and Meredith stayed for dinner that night, we escaped to go to the wedding instead! My host mother's granddaughter was there, and this kid is sooooo cute, I want to kidnap her and take her home with me!
We didn't stay at the wedding late, because the next day was more District Conference!
One of the very impressive speakers of Day 2, a Brigadier General with the UN Peacekeeping Forces
My host father thanking him for coming and his excellent speech- who knew Bangladesh was the second largest contributor to the UN Peacekeepers??
And then we had a photo session with the RI General Secretary (who also delivered an excellent speech) John Hewko, and the Rotary International President's Personal Representative, Mr Ashish Ghosh...
And then Holly and I escaped for a portion of the day to go shopping with her host mother, Asma... We had to come back before 6pm though, so I could see my host father and his Rotary Club be recognized for their hard work on the conference.
We took a few snaps of some of our friends from Chittagong, before we had to say goodbye! But Sizzil had already left! :(
It was lovely to see everyone again, but it wasn't enough time... I hope I can come back soon to visit!!
