Apologies for not posting sooner, I've had Internet but I've been feeling poorly!
So our first night back in Dhaka was a wedding. It's nice because my host mother is the little sister of Holly's host father, so generally we end up at a lot of the same events!
I had about 30 minutes to get ready to leave, since I was the last one dropped off from the airport, but my hair desperately needed a wash so in all of my pictures my hair is still dripping!
Holly's host mother dressed her up in a sari, so she was looking gorgeous!
Our next day was a vocational day, so I went into work with my host-father, who is the CEO of Brac Bank, and then visited a couple of branches while he took meetings and did CEO stuff... I didn't take any pictures, because most banks look exactly the same, but I am waiting to see Holly's pictures, she got to meet with the people who are putting on the District Conference!
The following day was the opening ceremonies of Rotasia, which is a meeting between Rotaractors from Bangladesh, India, and Nepal (and I think one other country participated)... here are some pictures from the opening ceremonies!
Holly with the District Governor
Then we had to rush off to a television station, so Dr. Tonya could have her 30 minutes of fame!! They basically asked questions about the GSE Program, and Rotary, and how we are liking Bangladesh, it was pretty cool! Big shout out to our GSE Coordinator Fawzia Naaz for setting that up!!
They had short bits from the rest of the team as well, but she was the main star!
That night I attended the groom's portion of the wedding I went to a few days prior. They have several days of celebration, some held specifically for the friends and family of the bride, and some for the groom's side. Holly's host father was in India on business so we didn't get to see her, but my host mother dressed me up in one of her saris!
The set of earrings my host mother lent to me... they are so heavy you have to hook them over your ear!
For the past two days I have been feeling ill, so I opted out of the city tour yesterday and nothing was on our schedule for today, so I have been catching up on my rest! Tomorrow will be the closing ceremony and gala for Rotasia, so hopefully I will have lots more to add soon!
